Who are you?
I’m Jason, I’m 42 or it is 43 (I can never remember) It’s just a number at the end of the day. I’m originally from a little town called Germiston in Primrose in South Africa and I moved to the UK in 1999 for what was supposed to be a 2 year working holiday and here I am 22 years later. I graduated from The Technikon of Natal with a Diploma in Light Music. My family life consists of my three great children Cody, Jesse-Jane and Daniel, our dog Bella who thinks she is human and our cat Domino. I have a real passion for music, plants, anything that moves fast and problem solving.
How did you get into AV?
AV is well and truly in my blood. At a very young age I was fixing and taking hifi’s apart (showing my age now), setting up the sound for house party’s and had a passion for entertaining and events & technology. I joined a successful South African band from the age of 16 and have always had a very keen interest in Unified Communications although it wasn’t called that back then. I was a stay at home dad for 5 years but studied AV extensively in the in my free time, gigged in an around the UK with my band as a singer guitarist and moved up quickly within the AV/UC world in various roles onsite, doing global project deployments and most recently as a Solutions consultant.
Where is the best place you’ve visited?
So many to chose from as I have travelled extensively for work. I would have to say the Nordics are right up there. People are amazing, beautiful scenery and so organised yet laid back.
If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Too many greats to chose from but a night jamming with Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Elvis, Freddie Mercury, Keith Moon and Janis Joplin would be amazing with my granny Botha as VIP guest.
What’s your ideal Friday night?
My ideal Friday night would begetting my recently purchased 1980’s Evolution 26 ft sailing boat and travelling to France with the family. I hate making plans and love a spontaneous adventure.
